End of year whale watching

Whale watching in the Azores is overall not great in the winter months, but if you go out routinely you can be lucky to have some nice sightings. Common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins are the most frequently sighted species, but occasionally others still make an appearance, including sperm whales. Many of these winter sperm whale sightings are the large solitary males of the species.
